Why we use them
We use cookies for three plain reasons: to keep the site working, to understand which pages people actually read so we can write better ones, and, only if you agree, to measure whether an advert brought you here. The essential ones cannot be switched off because the site cannot run without them. The rest are yours to decline.

The exact cookie names, providers and durations are being finalised with our provider and will be listed here. We do not invent them.
Third party cookies
Some cookies are set by the services we rely on rather than by us, such as our analytics provider and our payment providers. Each of those runs under its own privacy and cookie policy. We keep this list short on purpose, and we do not run advertising trackers across the site.
Your choice
Beyond the essential cookies, nothing is switched on without your say so. You can accept or decline the analytics and marketing groups, and you can change your mind later. A cookie settings option in the footer lets you reopen these choices at any time once it is live.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Your browser can block or delete cookies for any site, including this one. The menus differ slightly between Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, but each has a privacy or cookies section where you can clear them or block new ones. If you block the essential cookies here, you will simply have to log in more often.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect or how you control it, we make that obvious rather than quietly editing a line in the middle.
